I've always been good at emotional understanding. A few nights before my college graduation, a few of us were laying on the sidewalk. Reminiscing about all the goods, fearing the unknown ahead. I put on some music. An half an hour later, my friend started laughing at me for turning this moment into a movie scene. I had managed to pre-make a perfect soundtrack. Events like that have always happened to me. I know the right things to do or to say- unless you're my older sister. Then I always know the wrong thing. I instinctively know the right touches to add to make someone smile. I know how to help people cry. I'm very much in touch with the emotions of others.
I have decided that the best way to explain my talents is as a creative empath. So far, pretty much everyone is confused by what that means. Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. I rock at empathy. Sometimes, I'm too empathetic and get glared at my by class for defending Frank in Willa Cather's O'Pioneers. I mean, his wife was cheating on him and he was drunk when he found them. I'd get pretty upset too. Plus, he felt remorse for his actions when he sobered. He certainly wasn't a purely evil human. But I digress. A creative empath is someone who can apply their empathy to creative works. This ranges from developing scripts to finding the right music to a million other small things. So here I am. A creative empath.
Because of my connections to emotions, it gives me a unique view of the entertainment industry. This blog will be a way for me to share my views and understandings of certain movies, books, or any other stories I come across. I hope you will join me on this journey as we stumble through together.
